Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, alongside its first foldable iPhone, and a new leak may have revealed the Pro lineup’s color palette. Dark Cherry appears set to replace Cosmic Orange as this year’s signature finish.
According to information obtained by Macworld from a source familiar with Apple’s supply chain, Apple has been developing four finishes for the iPhone 18 Pro series: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray and Silver. The standout is undoubtedly Dark Cherry, a deep wine-like red that appears more restrained than the bright Cosmic Orange introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro.
Light Blue could provide a softer alternative, reportedly resembling the Mist Blue finish available on the standard iPhone 17. Dark Gray would bring back a more understated, almost black option, while Silver is expected to remain the familiar neutral choice. The reported internal Pantone references are 6076 for Dark Cherry, 2121 for Light Blue, 426C for Dark Gray and 427C for Silver.
There is still some uncertainty surrounding the final selection. Apple reportedly hasn’t started mass production of the iPhone 18 Pro yet, meaning colors could still be changed or dropped before launch. The company has tested finishes in previous years that never reached stores, so four prototypes don’t necessarily mean four retail options.
Dark Cherry, however, looks increasingly likely to make the cut, with subsequent leaks reportedly providing real-world evidence of the finish. If accurate, Apple will retire Cosmic Orange after just one generation and give the iPhone 18 Pro its most distinctive red-toned Pro finish yet. The final lineup should become official at Apple’s September 9 event.
