Motorola is apparently getting ready to make its foldable lineup wider. Leaked design sketches obtained by Android Headlines show an unannounced wide-format foldable with one particularly practical idea: a camera bar stretching across the back.
Instead of stacking the cameras in one corner, Motorola appears to be placing them inside a horizontal bar across the upper portion of the phone. Beyond looking more balanced, the design could eliminate the annoying table wobble caused by large, asymmetrical camera bumps. The sketches show three circular cutouts, although only two may actually house cameras, with the smaller opening potentially reserved for a flash or sensor.
Motorola is also promising an “easy-open profile,” using slightly shaped edges that should provide better grip when unfolding the phone. Other notes mention 3D glass and, more ambitiously, a “creaseless display.” The inner screen has a selfie camera in its upper-right corner, while the cover display gets a centered hole-punch.
There’s no name, price or spec sheet yet. The source only says Motorola plans to launch the device “in the coming months.” If these sketches reflect the finished hardware, Motorola isn’t reinventing the foldable so much as trying to fix some of the little annoyances that still come with owning one.
