Motorola Razr Flex concept looks like a softer take on the Galaxy Z Fold 8

Motorola has teased a wide foldable, and a new leak gives us a possible name and specifications: “razr flex,” reportedly its internal name, with a launch targeted for December. The image circulating with the report deserves a careful label, though. It is an Android Headlines concept mock-up, not an official Motorola render. It offers a useful look at how the rumored phone could wear its design, but it cannot confirm the final finish or camera shape.

The mock-up shows a short, broad body with generously rounded corners. Its most distinctive detail is a centered horizontal camera island: two large lenses sit beside the flash in a pill-shaped panel, leaving most of the back clean. The Dark Botanical Garden version pairs deep green with a lighter camera surround; Coriander takes a quieter beige-on-beige approach. Both feel more playful than the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s restrained styling, although the render gives us only a view of the rear.

The size figures tell a less flattering story for Motorola. The leak points to a 4.97-inch cover screen and a 6.92-inch inner display, versus 5.5 and 7.6 inches on Samsung’s Fold 8. Razr Flex would also measure a reported 12.6 mm when closed and weigh 215 g. Samsung lists the Fold 8 at 9.7 mm and 201 g. So while Motorola’s smaller footprint might be easier to carry, the rumored phone would make a noticeably thicker stack in a pocket.

According to the leak, Motorola plans a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, a 5,000 mAh battery and two 50 MP rear cameras. A 165 Hz inner OLED panel and 25 W Qi2 wireless charging are also mentioned. Those are promising specifications, but they say little about how the hinge, screen crease or camera bump will feel in person. The report itself is inconsistent about the exact Snapdragon model, listing a different chip name in its specifications table.

As a design proposition, Razr Flex appears to favor character and a smaller canvas, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has the stronger claim to thinness and screen space. The centered camera bar and Pantone colors could give Motorola an identity of its own. We will need actual product images, a price and hands-on time to judge whether that attractive mock-up survives contact with the finished phone.
