Samsung appears to be preparing a major redesign for its next object tracker. Newly leaked press renders reveal the Galaxy SmartTag 3 with a compact, rounded-square body, replacing the pill-shaped design of the Galaxy SmartTag 2.
The tracker is shown in black and white, with a metallic-looking front panel, prominent Samsung branding and a plastic rear cover. It reportedly measures around 30 x 30 mm and is less than 10 mm thick. The back also includes a small opening used to access and replace its coin-cell battery.
One notable change is the removal of the integrated keyring cutout. Samsung will apparently rely on separate cases and mounts instead, following an approach similar to Apple’s AirTag. Official bumper, silicone and leather cases are reportedly planned, alongside a carabiner accessory and a Spigen-developed mount for attaching the tracker to a pet collar.
FCC documents confirm support for Bluetooth Low Energy and Ultra-Wideband connectivity. UWB should enable more accurate directional tracking at short distances when the SmartTag 3 is paired with a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy SmartTag 3, but reports point to an early October launch. Pricing is expected to start at around $30 in the United States and €28 in Europe, while a four-pack could cost approximately $100 or €93, respectively.
