Galaxy S27 Ultra case leaks point to a bold new camera design, but one detail is missing

Samsung may be preparing a major visual change for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Photos of alleged protective cases show a wide, rounded rectangular camera area stretching across much of the phone’s upper back. Inside it sit two large, vertically stacked camera openings on the left and a slimmer oval section on the right. If the cases reflect the final hardware, the Ultra would have a much more unified camera design than the separate lens rings associated with recent Galaxy flagships.

The cases reveal different levels of detail. One leaves the entire camera area open, while others trace its boundaries and individual openings. The most detailed version suggests that a third telephoto camera sits at the top of the right-hand oval, with a much smaller circular opening beneath it. Leaker Ice Universe says this refines earlier CAD-based renders, which showed the oval’s shape without establishing exactly where its components would sit.

That creates a design puzzle: if the smaller opening is for the LED flash, where does the laser autofocus sensor go? The case photos cannot settle that question. They show where accessory makers expect openings, but they do not identify every component beneath them. The pink and dark grey images circulating alongside the cases are renders, so their finishes and camera details should be treated as interpretations.

There is also an apparent Galaxy S27 Pro case in the images. It uses the same broad camera-island idea, with two large circular cutouts on the left and an elongated opening beside them. That resemblance hints at a shared design language across the two models, although the case labels and renders are no confirmation of Samsung’s final lineup.

The overall effect is striking: the camera hardware becomes a single graphic feature across the top of the phone, leaving the rest of the back visually clean. Whether Samsung adopts that look, and how it fits the Ultra’s sensors into the smaller openings, remains to be seen.
